Go Within
There is something special about closing your eyes and retreating from the world. Behind the curtain of the ever present stimuli which flood our senses at every moment is a world of even more wonder. Take a moment and think about how many thoughts make there way through your head each day. Hell, every hour. You probably can't even quantify it, and there is no need to. Simply be the awareness behind them and notice when these thoughts are self-serving or self-depreciating. One thing that has become clear to me since I started isometric training is that sitting in stillness through tension opens up a host of thoughts. You can truly start to notice where your mind goes when you are facing bodily stress. Now there are two distinct methods I have found that have helped me learn to control my mindset and thoughts through isometrics. The first of which I will talk about is low intensity isometrics for the purpose of stress relief and manually pushing tension out of the body. My favorite method of doing this is to create tension in a spot specific place and focus all your attention there. When doing this you can learn to build a mind body connection that I would say is the most important aspect of building up your physical body. On the other end of the spectrum intense isometrics test your will, you are intentionally setting out to create the maximal amount of tension and stress in your body for a prolonged period of time. I believe that in this pursuit there is no better way to experience true freedom. When you can break through your self imposed walls and push yourself through the negative thoughts, the limitations and the barriers that you have previously put up a lot becomes clear.
